New Genuine & Re-Production Weber carbs
Definitions:
All Weber carbs have the throttle butterfly diameter in millimetres followed by the carb model. eg 40DCOE = DCOE model carb with 40mm butterflies.
We stock the following types of carbs:
DGV = dual barrel downdraught carbs with progressive throttle - these carbs have a primary and secondary system - eg. 32/36DGV
DGS = dual barrel downdraught carb with synchronous throttle - both butterflies open together - eg. 38DGMS
DCO & DCOE = dual barrel sidedraught carb with synchronous throttle - eg 45DCOE and 48DCO (no choke)
IDF = dual barrel downdraught carb with synchronous throttle - eg. 44IDF
DGV choke types: DGS choke types:
DGV = mechanical choke DGMS = mechanical choke
DGAV = water "aqua" choke DGAS = water "aqua" choke

The "difference" between the genuine Weber brand and our repro carbs:
The reproduction carbs are a very good replica of the well know Weber brand of carbs. The repro carbs are manufactured in Asia, as opposed
to Europe (Spain), where the current new Webers are built. The castings of the repro carbs are of high quality, and actually have a smoother
surface finish compared to the Weber brand carbs, but this is purely because the casting dies used for the repro carbs are new, and don't have
as much wear and tear from having tens of thousands of casts in them. The machining quality of the repro carbs is also excellent, and the only
issues we see with the repro carbs are the same issues we see with the Weber brand carbs, that is mis-adjustment of basic carb settings from
the factory, the odd bit of casting flashing not removed during the assembly process, and sometimes you will find machining swarf in places
like the fuel bowls. But as mentioned, this is a problem with Weber carbs too, not just the repro carbs.
But most importantly, the repro carbs respond to jetting changes in exactly the same way as the genuine Webers do. And they use all the same
tuning components, so Weber brand and repro brand parts are interchangeable. We have tuned many of the repro carb setups whether is be the
DGV style in blow through turbo setups, or twin DCOEs on naturally aspirated engines, and are confident that when tuned properly, they will
perform as intended, and perform the same (both power and economy) as a genuine Weber carb will.
We back this up with a 12 month warranty on all carbs we sell.
As part of our normal carb prep, we do a check over of the carbs and a basic pre-setting of the idle stop and mixture screws before shipping
them out. So when buying carbs from us, you are much less likely to have any issues, as opposed to buying them from other sellers. Also with
many of our carbs, we offer a basic re-jet service, and can alter the original jetting of the carb to more closely match your engine's requirements.
We are sure there are other sellers of Asian replica carbs that will be cheaper than us with some model carbs, but they are just re-boxing the
carbs from their suppliers, they do not perform any inspection or initial setup procedures, they do not even know how the carbs work, how to
tune them, or what they're supposed to be capable of. And if it comes to a warranty issue with them, good luck!
We sell both Weber and Repro brand carbs, and although the Webers are a fantastic carb, the main difference between the two is really just the
price. If you can afford it, then sure, go with the Weber brand, which we would be more than happy to supply to you, and you won't be sorry.
But if on a budget, then our Repro carbs will do the same job for a lower price. With the Webers, you are paying a premium for the perception
of higher quality.
