Kent Crossflow Turbo Kit

Bolt on turbo kit designed for the Ford Kent cross flow engine. 

 

Kit includes all the parts you need to fit the turbo to the engine.  We also have blow through Weber carb kits that work perfectly with this setup, check them out here.

KIT INCLUDES: 

- New stainless steel log style turbo exhaust manifold with T2 flange 

- New Garret GT20 - 220hp turbocharger - see specs below

- New 2.25" stainless dump pipe

- New stainless steel braided oil supply line and fittings

- New high temp rubber oil drain line with sump connector with fittings/clamps

- New gaskets for turbo and exhaust manifold.

 

The kit comes will all the little parts that are needed, like gaskets, hose clamps, studs, nuts and bolts, etc.  There is no fabrication necessary apart from welding the exhaust dump pipe. 

 

 

 

TURBO EXHAUST MANIFOLD - Stainless Steel log style with T2 flange 

The exhaust manifold supplied is a brand new stainless steel log style manifold fabricated from laser cut 304SS stainless steel header flange, 304SS T25 turbo flange with round outlet, and 1" 304SS or 321SS schedule 10 butt weld steam pipe fittings.  This gives an internal diameter of 27mm (which is a great match for stock Kent exhaust ports), and a wall thickness of 2.8mm-3.2mm, so the manifold is super strong, and heavy, but because it is so compact and close to the head, the loads on manifold mounting studs are not exceeded.

 

The turbo flange is positioned to give extra turbo to alternator clearance, so the flange is positioned higher, and tilted at a slight angle.

 

Note: T2, T25, T28, GT2X flanges are all the same, however we use a round outlet to match the steam pipe fittings, and the GT20 turbo used.   Rectangular port options are also available. 

 

We chose a log style manifold to keep the design simple, with the intention of keeping the fabrication costs low.  A typical log style manifold like this will support approximately 200-250hp, so it's a good match for a modified turbo Kent cross flow which tend to max out at around 200hp-250hp.  So a more intricate design tuned length manifold isn't required for most setups unless it's a heavily modified head and cam combo.  Other benefits of the log style are small internal volume, so fast boost response, minimising turbo lag.

TURBOCHARGER - Garrett GT20 - 220hp 

The 220hp turbo is brand new genuine Garrett GT2052 plain bearing, oil cooled turbo with internal wastegate and aftermarket wastegate actuator to get low boost options (7psi) without boost controller.

 

The turbocharger can support 220hp.  They can be pushed a bit harder, but 220hp is a comfortable upper limit.  The 220hp turbo has similar size wheels and housings to a Garrett GT2560 turbo, which are rated by Garrett at over 300hp. All of our turbos are VSR balanced and have 360deg thrust bearings.  Specs are:

OIL LINES & DUMP PIPE

Included in the kit are a -4AN stainless steel braided oil supply line with fittings to connect from Kent engine oil gallery to turbo oil inlet, oil drain fittings for turbo and engine sump, Hi-temp oil drain hose and stainless hose clamps.  

 

We supply a 2" stainless pipe for the dump pipe, which is welded to the supplied steel plate on the exhaust housing of the turbo, in whatever rotational position you want.  Or for additional cost, we can supply something like a stainless 2.5"-2.0" conical reducer so you could use a larger 2.5" dump pipe if preferred.
